Chris McNally’s new pink triathlon bike is designed to spark conversations

Chris McNally, newly-appointed chair of the Applied Technologies Department and a veteran triathlete, will compete this summer using a bright pink bicycle that was meticulously painted by Mya Julius, one of two women enrolled in Hudson Valley Community College’s Automotive Technical Services–Autobody Repair program.

Pink is the color McNally wears and displays frequently to promote IOU — It’s On Us, his grassroots effort to raise awareness of the sexual harassment of female athletes.

On June 24, Spectrum News 1 in Albany aired a feature story highlighting Julius’s accomplishments in her first year studying autobody painting and repair, as well as McNally’s ongoing IOU — It’s On Us campaign.
